Today certification in wound care is as diverse as the number of organizations that offer it. While some offer a course and a quick test, others like the ABWMS take the certification process seriously with an examination equivalent to any offered by ABMS or AOA Boards. Additionally, like all ABMS and AOA Board, the ABWMS certifies MDs and DOs only.
May I invite you to consider sponsoring the Foundation for the Advancement of Wound Care. Your sponsorship will allow us to promote certification among the 13,000 physicians who practice it while helping the Foundation to develop quality-based payments models so that wound care physicians are appropriately reimbursed for the care they offer.
People are living significantly longer, patients with diabetes are on an upward trajectory while the number of obese individuals continue to climb. Sadly, the US has the highest rate of obesity in the developed world.
